What is a Marine Crew?

The role of a Marine Crew member involves operating and maintaining watercraft such as boats, water taxis, or even larger ships needed for filming on or near bodies of water. They assist in transporting cast, crew, and equipment to filming locations, as well as setting up and securing any necessary equipment on board. Additionally, they work closely with the Location Manager to scout and secure appropriate filming locations accessible by water.

A Marine Crew member must possess excellent navigational skills and be well-versed in maritime safety procedures. They should be adept at maneuvering boats in various water conditions and have a strong understanding of maritime regulations and protocols. Good communication and teamwork skills are also crucial, as they often work closely with other departments such as Camera and Art to ensure the successful execution of water-based scenes.

While a formal college degree may not be required for a Marine Crew position, relevant experience and certifications are essential. Individuals interested in this role should have prior experience operating watercraft and must obtain certifications such as a boating license or other relevant maritime qualifications.
